Despite the fact that the financial terms of the acquisition have not been divulged by Sparq, the purchase was seemingly not an expensive one for Yahoo. Sparq is one of the many small startups which Yahoo has taken over in the last few months.
The 2010-founded Sparq has created something called a "deep link" technology for mobile apps; allowing the users to switch between apps on their smartphones. The integration of the Sparq technology into Yahoo can potentially help the Internet firm boost as well as monetize its mobile audience.
In a recent post announcing the acquisition of Sparq by Yahoo, the startup's CEO Jesse Chor hinted that Sparq's workforce of nearly a dozen employees will be joining Yahoo. Moreover, Sparq will also be stopping its current service, and will notify customers with further details.
Noting that Sparq's acquisition by Yahoo will unfold "endless opportunity ahead" for the startup, Chor said: "We are uber passionate about mobile -- we've been striving to build the best mobile platform possible, and are excited to continue upon that goal with Yahoo."
