Researchers from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine have led the study. Lead researcher Dr. Madhav Goyal was of the view that they have found mindful meditation as the most effective form when it comes to treating certain depression symptoms.
Psychologist Katie Sparks agrees with the research findings. Sparks said, "In the group work that I've done with sufferers of anxiety or depression, I've found it very beneficial because it calms the mind".
To talk about mindfulness meditation, it was practiced some 2,500 years ago by Buddhist. Main aim of doing this type of meditation is to concentrate on present situation and experience and try to not judge what is right and what is wrong.
With passage of time, popularity of this type of meditation has witnessed a rise. Top-notch personalities like Oprah Winfrey, Biz Stone and Evan Williams have been practicing it. It would be surprising, but it is true that Facebook runs mindfulness sessions on regular basis. There are a number of companies that organize such sessions.
