Chevrolet Silverado, Corvette win truck and car of the year 


Chevrolet Silverado, Corvette win truck and car of the year The 2014 `North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year' awards have been won by Chevrolet vehicles in both car and truck/utility categories.
It is for the first time in history that General Motors' (GM) Chevrolet brand has taken out both car and truck categories in the prestigious awards.  While the 2014 Corvette Stingray sports car bagged the award in the `car' category; the company's 2014 Silverado 1500 pickup truck was picked for the truck/utility category.
The Chevrolet 2014 Corvette Stingray was picked by the judges for the car category from among the finalists which included the 2014 Cadillac CTS and 2014 Mazda 3.  Meanwhile, Chevrolet 2014 Silverado 1500 pickup truck's top contenders on the truck/utility category were the 2014 Acura MDX and 2014 Jeep Cherokee.
Chevrolet's 2014 Corvette Stingray sports car and 2014 Silverado 1500 pickup truck were announced the winners of the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards after a voting by a total of 49 automotive journalists from the U. S. and Canada.  The judges voted to pick the most outstanding vehicles of the year, on the basis of a number of factors including design, innovation, design, handling, value, and driver satisfaction.
About Chevrolet winning the awards in car as well as truck/utility categories, the company's global boss Alan Batey said: "It is a distinct honor for the entire Chevrolet team to have both the Corvette and Silverado recognized with the prestigious North American Car and Truck of the Year awards."
