E-CigarettesWeston Bans Sale of E-Cigarettes to Minors

Till now, debate on whether electronic cigarettes are beneficial compared to traditional cigarettes, continues. Amid this discussion, Weston has become the second Broward County city to ban the sale of e-cigarette for minors.
The order is said to be the similar one that was passed in Sunrise. As per the ordinance, youngsters below 18 years cannot buy e-cigarettes in Weston. Commissioner Thomas Kallman said that there is nothing positive that he has heard about e-cigarettes.
Therefore, it is better to keep them away at least from minors. It has been seen that governments are taking steps to regulate the cigarettes.
The Florida Senate is considering banning e-cigarettes for youngsters. New York, New Jersey, Utah, Arkansas and North Dakota are among those that include e-cigarettes in their smoking bans.
In fact, the Food and Drug Administration is also expected to come up with its own set of regulations for e-cigarettes. "They see it now on television and they think it's harmless. To ban that in that minor population has positive health implications", said Don Torok, chairman of the Tobacco-Free Partnership of Broward County, who welcomed the recent law passed in Weston.
Popularity of e-cigarettes is on the rise and with time, they have started in different flavors. It is one of the factors that lures youngsters; therefore, its regulation will prove beneficial.
