HP set to re-enter smartphone market with two new Android devicesIn a recent report, Re/code has revealed that device maker Hewlett-Packard (HP) has plans underway to enter the smartphone market with two new devices running Google's Android operating system.
According to the report, the two Android devices which will mark HP's re-entry into the highly-competitive smartphone arena will be a 6-inch `phablet' called Slate 6; and a 7-inch tablet dubbed Slate 7 VoiceTab.  Both the devices will be launched in India in February.
Going by the details shared by HP, the new HP Slate 6 smartphone-cum-tablet will be 9mm device; while the Slate 7 VoiceTab will be slightly thicker at 9.5mm.  Though HP has not divulged the pricing details of the two devices, it is being speculated that - given the fact that the devices will be released in India - they will have an affordable price-tag.
Some of the key features which will be common to both the HP Slate 6 and the HP Slate 7 VoiceTab include a 720p HD resolution screen, respectively 6 inches and 7 inches in size; unidentified quad-core processors; a 5 megapixel camera; and stereo front speakers.
Both the new HP Slate 6 phablet and Slate 7 VoiceTab tablet will run Android OS version 4.2 `Jelly Bean;' and will come with 16GB onboard storage capacity expandable via microSD cards.
