Around 7 Dogs Suffered Seizures on Auckland Beaches

Around 7 Dogs Suffered Seizures on Auckland BeachesAs per reports, it has been unveiled that around seven dogs have suffered seizures while walking at Kohimarama and St Heliers beaches, East Auckland.
It is suspected that they have consumed poison. This is the reason that dog owners have been asked to avoid taking their dogs to the beaches.  Investigation report has unveiled that the dogs have developed symptoms after six to eight hours of visiting the beach.
Dogs' condition went so bad that they required immediate treatment. There are chances that dogs would have eaten slug bait. While confirming the news, Abbotts Way Veterinary Clinic around Remuera has affirmed that they have treated a dog some two weeks ago.
The dog was poisoned with metaldehyde. It is one of the ingredients that are quite active in slug bait. Nurse Yani Riley was of the view that there are chances that the dog must have been at one of the beaches before the dog was taken to the clinic.
Nurse Riley said that when one is treated for metaldehyde poisoning then it is very important to ensure that dog remains as calm as possible. "With the seizuring they also tend to overheat so it's important they're kept cool ... with towels and things", affirmed she.
