Phonak’s new invisible hearing aid- ‘Lyric’ has exceptional resultsClinical audiologist Mark Sanford has used the example of a dartboard to show the benefits of his new hearing aid called `Lyric', and says that just like it is more likely to hit the bull's eye on a dartboard when you stand closer to it, similarly when the hearing aid is closer to the ear drum the sound is magnified better.
Since the ear channel isn't straight and has two curves which shift in intensity from individual to individual, its imperative that eardrums are as close as could be feasible to the hearing aid to allow the sound which amplifies to hit the bull's eye inside the ear as per Sanford.
He states that in most ear channels, [lyric] will sit 4mm from the eardrum including that numerous other universal portable hearing assistants get inside just 16mm.
`Lyric' is manufactured by Phonak and is only one of numerous portable hearing aids which sit totally inside the ear channel.  The vast majority of the industry's huge name players, for example, Oticon, Starkey, Siemens and Resound have started in-the-ear, or concealed, portable amplifiers.
Other hearing aid companies are also striving to make smaller and more efficient devices which are invisible.
