75 Canadians Clear 1st Selection Round for Mars Trip 


MarsMars One, a nonprofit organization, Netherlands, has attracted the attention of one and all by announcing that it would be sending colonies on Mars by 2024.
Standing true to its words, it announced application submission for the same. Mars One announced that it has received more than 200,000 applications from across the globe. Out of them, 8,243 applications were of Canadians.
The nonprofit organization is done with its first round and it has been found that a number of Canadians have been able to clear the first round of the same. Dozens of these people from Canada will now be taking part in the next round of the selections.
The first round has been cleared by 1,058 people across the globe. Out of which, 75 Canadians have made into the list and 43 are women and 32 are men. One of the chosen people is Claude Gauthier, a University of Moncton professor.
If exact reason is asked that made him to be selected then he does not have answer. "Half of the family agrees that I should go on the trip, the other half is under negotiations", affirmed Gauthier.
After the United States, Canada has the largest number of candidates selected for the programme.
