Russia's Yandex signs partnership agreement with Facebook 


yandex FacebookAs a result of a recently-signed partnership agreement by bigwig Russian Internet group Yandex and popular social network Facebook, Yandex's access to the public information of Facebook users will get a noteworthy boost.
The agreement which Hague-based Yandex has signed with Facebook will give Russia's leading search engine the access to content from some of the users of the social networking site; thereby helping Yandex bring about further improvements in its search results.
About the partnership with Facebook, Yandex said in a Tuesday statement that the move will give it full access to Facebook users' public information not only in Russia, but also in Turkey and CIS countries including Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
Yandex further added that, along with the Facebook users' posts, the Yandex search results will soon also display other users' comments on them.
So far as the terms of the Yandex-Facebook agreement are concerned, a Yandex spokesperson has revealed that the deal between the two companies is non-cash, and underscores mutual benefits --- the agreement will improve the quality of Yandex's search results, and will give Facebook more traffic.
Noting that the partnership will give Facebook a better representation in Yandex's search results, Yandex said in a statement: "Where appropriate, Yandex's search results will incorporate articles and videos that have had particular resonance on the social network."
